Pastor Chris Viera

I’ve been the full time pastor of Discovery Bible Church for over 13 years and it’s been a wild ride. My passion is making the presentation of God’s Word helpful and understandable.

Pastor Greg Oakes

I’m a long time member that has been blessed to become a lay pastor. I want people to know and love Jesus.

  • People start arriving at 10AM with the service beginning at 10:15AM and ending at 11:30AM.
  • Bulletins with a sermon summary sheet (“Discovery Sheets”) are given out at each door.  We have an entrance in the front and back of the church with a parking lot out back.
  • We are a casually dressed fellowship.  Coffee is typically available.
  • We enjoy children being in the service but also have a nursery for smaller children (baby-preK). We currently do not have Sunday School or Junior Church but will add these as more workers are present to help.
  • We open with announcements.
  • We have a “Focus Time” before praise to prepare our hearts
  • We typically sing 3 songs, a mix of a modern song, older praise song, and a traditional hymn.
  • We have a time of collective prayer.
  • We sing a doxology prayer together.
  • Pastor shares a message from the New Living Translation Bible.  The “Discovery Sheet” has blanks to fill-in to help you follow along.
  • 1st of every month we have communion.
  • We close with a traditional hymn.
  • Final prayer.
  • Giving boxes are at each entrance.
  • We are not affiliated with any denomination but are traditional in values and believe the Bible is true in all that it teaches and is our authority on how to live.
  • We believe in the Trinity.  God is three persons: Father, Son and Spirit.
  • We believe in the deity of Jesus, His virgin birth, and sinless life.  He died on the cross a sacrifice for our sins and arose bodily from the dead and ascended to Heaven to the right hand of the Father.
  • We believe salvation is by God’s grace alone and received by faith.  Our sin is paid in full through the finished work of Jesus on the cross.
  •  We believe God has given all humanity the free will to recognize our hopeless state in sin and receive God’s offer of salvation in Christ.
  • We look forward to the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, the bodily resurrection of the dead, His judgment, and the establishment of His eternal Kingdom on earth for the redeemed.
  • We believe Satan is real and the enemy of God.
  • We believe in God’s eternal punishment of unrepentant sinners in the Lake of Fire.
  • We believe in believers’ baptism after salvation by full emersion as the scriptures describe.
  • We believe worship is how we live our lives for the Lord and use our weekly Sunday gatherings to grow in faith and minister to each other.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and head of the Church and the local church has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs.
  • We believe the church is to be led by a plurality of male pastors (elders) that are qualified by present pastors using criteria given to us in the scriptures.
  • We believe all reputable translations are acceptable although limited in their own way.  Original languages allow for deeper study on intended meanings.
  • We believe the Lord has given Communion as a way to remember the sacrifice that Jesus made to bring us into a new relationship with God.
  • We believe the apostolic gifts of the Spirit are no longer given and ended once the church was established.  We accept that God may choose at any time to work in miraculous ways.
  • We believe men in the church are called to lead.  Women are allowed to hold leadership positions over other woman.
  • We believe marriage is, as the Old Testament has taught and Jesus confirmed, between a man and a woman.
